UNIOSUN 15th Convocation sees 49 First-Class honours as 2,851 degrees are awarded. Major infrastructure projects completed ahead of the ceremony

UNIOSUN 15th Convocation will witness a total of 2,851 degrees and diplomas awarded, with 49 students graduating with First-Class Honours, according to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Adebooye.

Speaking at a press conference held at the main campus in Osogbo, Prof. Adebooye highlighted the university’s progress, including academic achievements and a slew of newly completed infrastructure projects.

Of the graduates, 2,505 will receive first degrees, while 01 postgraduate diploma, 283 Master’s degrees, and 62 Doctoral degrees will also be awarded.

The degree classification shows 988 graduates with Second Class Upper Division, 1,279 with Second Class Lower**, 178 with Third Class, and one student with a Pass.

Prof. Adebooye also revealed that the N34 billion teaching hospital, donated by Pro-Chancellor Folorunso Alakija, has been completed and will be commissioned in the coming weeks.

Seven additional capital projects, including the Iconic Senate Building, were funded through TETFund’s High Impact and Special Interventions, and are now ready for use. These include:

•  A fully furnished Faculty of Computing and Information Technology
•  A Twin (500-500) Lecture Theatre Complex
•  A 500-Capacity Lecture Theatre on the main campus
•  New lecture theatres in Okuku and Ifetedo campuses
•  Modern entrepreneurship equipment to support skill development

Prof. Adebooye reaffirmed the university’s ambition to rank among the top 10 universities in Nigeria and within Africa’s top 20, through sustained focus on academic innovation, digital transformation, and a conducive learning environment.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Ademola Nurudeen and Arc. Sonny Echono for their unwavering support, which he described as pivotal to UNIOSUN’s rise as a global player in higher education.

Calling on members of the media, he said:

“Your role in shaping public perception cannot be overstated. We urge you to continue amplifying the positive strides of UNIOSUN as we jointly advance education in Osun State, Nigeria, and across Africa.”
