Victor Osimhen rested by Galatasaray for Turkish Cup tie against Alanyaspor amid congested schedule and Champions League duties

Galatasaray S.K. have left Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen out of their squad for Tuesday’s Ziraat Turkish Cup Group A fixture against Alanyaspor as part of squad rotation measures ahead of a demanding run of matches.

The Turkish champions confirmed that Victor Osimhen rested status formed part of an “active rest” strategy involving several key players, with the club already assured of qualification after winning their opening three group-stage games.

Galatasaray are attempting to balance domestic and European ambitions, with a fierce Süper Lig title race and a UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Liverpool F.C. approaching.

The Istanbul side last lifted the Turkish Cup in 2019 and are aiming to complete the group phase with a perfect record.

The decision comes just days after Osimhen delivered an influential performance, scoring and providing an assist in Galatasaray’s 3–1 league victory over Alanyaspor at the weekend.

Club officials are managing player workload carefully amid a congested calendar that will see Galatasaray play six matches within 19 days.

The schedule includes a crucial away derby against Beşiktaş J.K., a fixture widely viewed as decisive in the title race, with rivals Fenerbahçe S.K. and Trabzonspor closely monitoring developments at the top of the table.

Speaking after Saturday’s win, Victor Osimhen urged teammates to maintain concentration during what he described as a defining stage of the campaign. He stressed the importance of approaching each match with discipline as Galatasaray pursue success on multiple fronts.
