Governor Dapo Abiodun is alleged to be building a case against two heavyweight transport union figures — Efele and Danku — over accusations of anti-party activity and divided loyalties within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to political insiders and chatter from motor parks across the state, both union leaders are believed to have quietly aligned with a rival governorship aspirant, sparking concerns within the ruling party.

Their move reportedly stems from dissatisfaction with the APC candidate’s emergence, which they claim was orchestrated by Abiodun without consulting broader party stakeholders or considering grassroots popularity.

Sources within the political scene allege that Efele and Danku have begun mobilising their expansive networks against the APC candidate, betting on a post-Abiodun political future.

“They believe Abiodun’s tenure is almost over, and once he leaves office, he will no longer have the influence or resources to benefit them,” said one political source.

Tensions escalated when Danku reportedly hosted a closed-door meeting at his Sagamu GRA residence around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The gathering included local operatives and community leaders, raising eyebrows among APC loyalists.

In a development that further fuels the intrigue, Ogun’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Funmi Efuape — herself suspected of disloyalty — was also said to be in attendance.

The timing and makeup of the meeting have led to speculation that Governor Abiodun is considering legal or political tactics to disarm the two union leaders ahead of the election.

Analysts suggest that the governor sees them as potential disruptors in an already volatile race.
