Tolu Arokodare Wolves transfer agreed for €27m from Genk. Nigerian striker set for medical as Wolves strengthen attack after poor start

The Tolu Arokodare Wolves transfer has been agreed in principle, with the Premier League side set to sign the Nigerian striker from Belgian club Genk for €27 million.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal on Friday, adding that the 24-year-old will undergo a medical on Saturday ahead of finalizing his move to Molineux.

Arokodare’s arrival comes as Wolves scramble to reinforce their attack following a poor start to the 2025–26 Premier League season, which included back-to-back defeats and a heavy 4-0 loss to Manchester City.

The forward has enjoyed a prolific spell in Belgium, finishing last season as the Jupiler Pro League’s top scorer with 17 goals in 30 league matches. Across all competitions, he registered 23 goals and seven assists, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising strikers.

Standing at 6’6”, Arokodare combines aerial dominance with mobility, though pundits suggest his hold-up play will need refining to thrive in England. Still, Wolves see him as a powerful “target man” capable of adapting to the Premier League’s physical demands.

The deal follows Wolves’ collapsed bid for Getafe’s Christantus Uche and adds to the club’s recent signings under manager Vitor Pereira, including Jhon Arias, Fer Lopez, and Ladislav Krejci.

Arokodare is expected to provide both cover and competition for Jorgen Strand Larsen, whose future at the club has been clouded by interest from Newcastle United.

However, Romano clarified that the Nigerian’s signing is not tied to Larsen’s possible departure, underlining Wolves’ intent to deepen their squad.
