Eredo One-Way Driving Crackdown begins as LCDA chairman warns traffic offenders of arrest and prosecution to curb road accidents and restore order

Eredo One-Way Driving Crackdown has officially begun as the Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Monsuru Akinloye, issued a stern warning to motorists on Thursday, vowing to arrest and prosecute anyone driving against traffic within the Epe Division of Lagos State.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Eredo Council Secretariat, Akinloye described one-way driving as reckless and deadly, stressing that his administration would no longer tolerate such traffic violations.

“Driving against traffic is not only unlawful but also a dangerous act that can lead to avoidable accidents and loss of innocent lives,” Akinloye said.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of all road users, and offenders will face the full wrath of the law.”

The Eredo One-Way Driving Crackdown comes in the wake of a tragic accident on September 1 at Ibeju Bus Stop along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, where six people were killed and nine others injured after a truck driving against traffic collided with a commercial bus.

Among the victims were three women, two men, and a young boy.

According to reports, the accident was caused by route violation, dangerous driving, and speeding — the exact issues Akinloye says the crackdown is designed to prevent.

The chairman appealed to commercial drivers, private motorists, and residents to obey all traffic rules and understand that road discipline is a shared responsibility.

He emphasized that his administration is aligned with the THEMES agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, prioritizing orderliness, safety, and sustainable development.

“We urge all motorists to drive responsibly, respect traffic regulations, and help make Eredo a safer place for everyone,” he concluded.

Residents are also encouraged to report repeat violators and suspicious driving behavior to local authorities as part of the effort to restore public confidence in road safety.
