INEC opens ad-hoc staff registration for the Anambra governorship election, with applications running from September 15 to October 5, 2025

The Independent National Electoral Commission announced on Monday via its X handle that the application portal would be active from 15 September to 5 October 2025.

The process will be conducted online through the INEC web portal or the dedicated Android mobile app.

The commission stated that the registration covers Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Technicians (RATECHs), and RAC Managers.

Applicants must be residents of Anambra, Delta, Enugu, or Imo states, except RATECHs, who must be INEC ICT staff. The commission stressed that applicants must not belong to or support any political party.

Eligibility criteria specify that SPOs will be drawn from the federal public service and government agencies on certain grade levels, while POs and APOs will include serving or recent NYSC members, INEC staff, and eligible federal tertiary students.

RAC Managers will generally come from host institutions, typically school heads or staff of designated grade levels.

INEC added that RATECH positions are reserved for ICT staff from its state and headquarters offices who are not engaged in other election duties.

The commission advised applicants to read all guidelines carefully before submitting their applications, stressing that the recruitment process is a critical step towards ensuring a smooth and transparent election.

With registration now open, INEC is moving closer to its preparation for the off-cycle governorship poll in Anambra, one of the most closely watched elections of 2025.
