Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo says Plateau communities ready to defend against post-Ramadan Islamist and bandit attacks

Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, has assured residents that rural communities are prepared to defend themselves against potential attacks by Islamist terrorists and Fulani bandits.

Dachomo’s warning follows social media posts suggesting extremists plan to intensify violence in Plateau communities after the Muslim Ramadan fasting period, citing recent killings in Riyom and Barkin Ladi LGAs.

In a post on his X handle, the cleric said: “The Islamist terrorists said that after their fasting, they would come for us and resume the killings. But this time, we will be ready for them. They have already brought in more armed Fulani mercenaries from Sokoto and other states to fight and kill us.”

He stressed that rural, predominantly Christian communities must take proactive measures to protect themselves, noting that security agencies had failed to provide adequate protection in the past.
