Arteta Arsenal Premier League lead grows as manager urges calm following narrow 1-0 victory over Brighton

Mikel Arteta has urged restraint as Arsenal opened a seven-point gap at the top of the Premier League following a 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Bukayo Saka scored the decisive goal early in the first half at the Amex Stadium, giving Arsenal the advantage they maintained throughout the match.

Meanwhile, Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium.

“This was a really difficult one after everything we’ve been through in the last few weeks,” Arteta told TNT Sports.

“Every game in the Premier League offers you different things. Big credit to the boys because the effort they put in is astronomical.”

On the seven-point lead, the Spaniard added: “We did what we had to do and that is what we will continue to do.”
