The achievement makes Simon only the second Nigerian footballer to reach 200 matches in the French top flight, following the record set by John Utaka.

Utaka accumulated 239 Ligue 1 appearances during his career with RC Lens, Stade Rennais and Montpellier HSC.

Simon built the bulk of his Ligue 1 career at FC Nantes, where he spent six seasons before completing a move to Paris FC last summer.
