NSCDC theft syndicates Gombe crackdown leads to five arrests over stolen motorcycles, laptops and electronic gadgets

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gombe State Command, on Friday announced the arrest of five suspects linked to separate theft syndicates allegedly involved in stealing motorcycles, mobile phones and electronic gadgets across Gombe State, Nigeria.

The Command disclosed the arrests in a statement issued in Gombe by the Public Relations Officer, Buhari Saad, who said investigations were ongoing to apprehend additional suspects believed to be connected to the criminal networks.

According to the statement, one of the suspects, 19-year-old Haruna Hamman from Billiri Local Government Area, allegedly stole a Boxer motorcycle belonging to Adamu Buba on April 15, 2026.

The motorcycle was reportedly taken around midnight from the residence of Jauro Buba in Billiri before NSCDC patrol officers recovered it later the same day in Gombe Local Government Area.

The NSCDC theft syndicates Gombe investigation also led to the arrest of Nura Adamu, 29, from Bambam in Balanga Local Government Area, who was allegedly found in possession of a stolen Jinchen Kasea motorcycle belonging to Victor Thomas of Tumfure in Akko LGA.

Investigators said the motorcycle passed through multiple buyers before being traced and recovered by security operatives.

According to the Command, “The suspect purchased the motorcycle for ₦500,000 from Jibir Haruna, who had earlier bought it for ₦400,000 from Muhammad Yakubu, alias Buhari.”

In a separate operation, officers arrested 20-year-old Ishiyaka Ahmed, a resident of Arawa B in Gombe, for allegedly breaking into the residence of Mubarak Salihu in February 2026 and stealing valuables.

The stolen items reportedly included two laptops, two internet routers and three power banks.

The Command stated that Ahmed confessed during interrogation and allegedly implicated another suspect identified as Amir, who remains at large.

Authorities added that investigations had intensified to track down Yusuf, described as the prime suspect in the Jinchen Kasea motorcycle theft case, alongside other fleeing accomplices.

The statement confirmed that three of the suspects remain in custody and would be charged in court after the completion of investigations.

Speaking on the arrests, State Commandant CC Jibrin Idris reiterated the Corps’ determination to combat criminal activity and strengthen public safety across the state.

“We remain committed to bringing criminal elements to justice and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state,” Idris said.

The Command also urged residents to remain alert and continue providing timely information to security agencies to support ongoing crime-fighting efforts.
