The message came ahead of Nigeria’s opening Group match against Malawi’s Scorchers at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday night.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Ajibade said the players understand the importance of the tournament and remain committed to achieving success through focus and teamwork.

“The team’s spirit is high. Everyone is fully focused. We know why we’re here and we are ready to take things one step at a time,” Ajibade said.

The captain added that the squad was fully prepared for the competition, saying, “So we’re 100 per cent ready.”

Nigeria secured a record-extending 10th WAFCON title at the previous edition of the tournament after a dramatic 3-2 victory over hosts Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses in the final.

The Super Falcons, led by coach Justine Madugu, will now aim to successfully defend their crown while also pursuing qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

With a rich history in the competition and a squad featuring several experienced international players, Nigeria hopes to continue its impressive record on the continent.

Ajibade’s confidence reflects the team’s ambition, but the Super Falcons will face strong competition from other African nations seeking to end Nigeria’s dominance.
