Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Ajax have reached a club-to-club agreement with Wolves for the 25-year-old forward, with final details now being discussed before the deal is completed.

“Ajax are closing in on deal to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Wolves,” Romano wrote on X. “Club to club agreement done on loan with buy option for package slightly over €20m.”

The move represents a significant opportunity for Arokodare, who has been identified by Ajax as a priority attacking target as the Dutch club look to strengthen their forward options.

Arokodare joined Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. from Belgian side KRC Genk last summer after making a strong impression in the Belgian Pro League.

During his debut season with Wolves, the striker made 33 league appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

Although his numbers were modest, his physical presence, movement and ability to lead the attack attracted interest from several clubs.

Before Ajax moved to the front of the race, Arokodare had been linked with potential transfers to Italian Serie A clubs ACF Fiorentina and Genoa CFC.

A move to Ajax would give the Nigerian forward the chance to compete in one of Europe’s most historic football environments and potentially play a key role in the club’s attacking rebuild.

Ajax, four-time European champions, have a long tradition of developing attacking talent and providing opportunities for players to establish themselves on the continental stage.

For Arokodare, the proposed switch could offer a fresh platform to rediscover his scoring form and strengthen his position within the Super Eagles setup.
