Bauchi Police kidnap rescue operation saves two victims, arrests two suspects, and continues manhunt for three others linked to the crime

Bauchi Police Kidnap Rescue operation successfully freed two kidnapped individuals and led to the arrest of two suspects, the Bauchi State Police Command confirmed on Wednesday.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, stated that on October 25, 2025, Stanley Abuchi, 32, reported that five unknown individuals had attempted to abduct him at his residence in Wuntin Dada.

When they failed to find him, the kidnappers abducted his girlfriend, Joy Stanley, 23, and his friend, Adam Bala, 24.

According to Wakil, detectives from the ‘B’ Division, under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly intercepted the suspects in a red Mercedes-Benz along Gidan Mai Jos Road, Bauchi.

“One suspect, Abubakar Musa, 32, from Jos, was arrested, and both victims were rescued unharmed,” Wakil revealed.

“Investigations showed that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦400,000 and confiscated victims’ belongings worth ₦60,000.”

Further investigations led to the arrest of a second suspect, Dahiru Umar, 31, from Yandoya, Jos, Plateau State, on October 27, 2025, during which a handcuff, regarded as a key piece of evidence, was recovered.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend three other suspects identified as Ibrahim Hassan (a.k.a. B13), Pigo, and Musa.

SP Wakil assured the public of the police’s commitment to tracking them down.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

SP Wakil commended the public’s cooperation in enhancing safety and security across Bauchi State, highlighting its role in supporting law enforcement efforts.

The operation comes shortly after the Rivers State Police Command arrested two notorious kidnappers who lured a victim through a dating site and collected a ₦200,000 ransom, demonstrating a nationwide focus on combating kidnapping and related crimes.
