Marcus Rashford has been officially registered with LaLiga and will be available for Barcelona’s opening fixture against Mallorca on Saturday.

The Spanish champions confirmed earlier today that the England forward will be in the squad, ending a tense wait over his eligibility. Barca boss Hansi Flick admitted he was frustrated by the uncertainty but welcomed the resolution ahead of the new season.

Barcelona moved quickly on Friday to free up salary space, enabling Rashford’s registration.

The Catalan club sold the remaining 50% of Francisco Trincão’s rights to Sporting CP for €11 million, while defender Jules Koundé agreed to restructure his deal, spreading the amortisation payments on his €55 million transfer over three additional years.

Rashford joined Barcelona last month on a season-long loan from Manchester United, in what was one of the summer’s most eye-catching deals.

His arrival is expected to add firepower to the squad as Flick seeks to defend the LaLiga title and push deep in Europe.
