Ondo store theft arrest: Police apprehend seven suspects in connection with ₦20.45 million commercial store robbery in Ore, Odigbo LGA

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects over an Ondo store theft arrest involving goods valued at ₦20.45 million from a commercial store in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, Public Relations Officer of the command, disclosed the arrests in a statement on Friday, noting that the complainant, Ogunyomi Segun, reported the theft at the Ore Divisional Police Headquarters.

The report indicated that between 2024 and January 3, 2026, some employees conspired to steal items including soft drinks, Trophy cans, and other canned beverages from the store, with a total estimated value of ₦20,450,000.

“The suspects were identified as the complainant’s storekeeper, Oyineke Joseph; his computer operator, Abioye Yusuf; another staff member, Abdullahi Quadir; while three receivers, Micheal Njoku, Agu Monday, and Ikuemehin Oloruntimilehin, were also arrested through a driver identified as Ojewuyi,” the statement said.

DSP Jimoh added that during investigations, the suspects confessed to the crime and outlined their respective roles in the theft. He confirmed that they would be charged to court once the investigation concludes.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the detectives, stating that their diligence reflects the command’s strengthened capacity to combat crime in Ondo State.

The police also acknowledged the support of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, whose reforms and technological initiatives have bolstered policing effectiveness in the state.

DSP Jimoh further urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, emphasizing that “collective effort remains vital to the attainment of a safer society.”

Earlier reports indicated that the Ondo State Police Command arrested over 2,500 suspected criminals across the state’s 18 local government areas in 2025.

The suspects were allegedly involved in crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, murder, theft, cultism, and vandalism.
