The Future of Africa Podcast empowers young African leaders to discuss pressing global challenges and shape the continent’s narrative through powerful weekly episodes

The Future of Africa Podcast has officially launched as a powerful new platform to amplify the voices of Africa’s young changemakers on global issues, from climate justice to democratic resilience.

Jointly produced by the United Nations Foundation, The Elders, and the African Union Youth Envoy, the limited-series podcast debuted on August 12, 2025, coinciding with International Youth Day.

Hosted by Kenyan media figure Adelle Onyango and Mark Leon Goldberg of the Global Dispatches podcast, the series aims to confront systemic challenges facing Africa’s youth — such as unemployment, underemployment, and political mistrust — while exploring solutions directly from the young leaders driving change.

“The Future of Africa challenges Africans and those interested in the continent’s future to hear young people’s voices, explore their ideas, and set the scene for what’s to come,” the organisers said in a statement.

Episode 1, now live, explores Africa’s rising influence on the global stage and the dynamic leadership emerging across the continent. Upcoming episodes promise thought-provoking interviews with key voices, including:

• Chimdi Neliaku, Special Assistant on Interparliamentary Affairs and Public Relations to the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives
• Samson Itodo, Executive Director of Yiaga Africa and Convener of the Not Too Young To Run movement
