Rotary Youth Leadership Academy 2025 empowers District 9112 youth with vocational training, mentorship, and impact-driven leadership at Sea School, Lagos

Rotary Youth Leadership Academy 2025 officially launched on Saturday, August 3, at the Citizenship & Leadership Training Institute, better known as Sea School, Apapa, Lagos.

The immersive one-week program has brought together vibrant young minds from across Rotary District 9112 for a powerful leadership and personal development experience.

Themed “Empowered to Innovate, Driven to Impact,” the event was flagged off by District Governor Rtn. Lanre Adedoyin, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Iyabo Adedoyin, and other high-ranking Rotary leaders including District Governor-Elect Layi Abidoye and District Governor Nominee Uyi Sowobi.

The Chairman of the RYLA Committee, Rtn. Tayo Adelaja, emphasized that the training isn’t just theoretical.

“Participants will engage in hands-on vocational skill acquisition led by industry professionals,” he said. “We want them to leave equipped to make real-life impact.”

Adding even more value, a partnering foundation has committed to awarding scholarships to outstanding participants, making the academy not just transformative—but life-changing.

Inspirational guest speakers such as Dr. Stephen Enike-Matthew, Jabirah Anike Bada, and Rtn. Hon. Bosun Oladele energized the participants with mentorship sessions focused on purpose, innovation, and community leadership.

“This is not just a camp,” said Governor Adedoyin. “It’s a launchpad for future leaders. We are preparing these young people to return to their communities ready to lead.”

Highlights from opening day included a colorful parade, flag hoisting, motivational talks, and surprise cash prizes.

For participants like Aisha Hussain from RC Gbagada, it was least expected as she won a hundred thousand naira, and Farouk from RC Lagos, Kamar from RC Ikeja-Alausa and Dora of Rotary Club of Lekki Phase 1, who went away with fifty thousand naira each, the opening ceremony of RYLA 2025 will forever be one of those great moments in their formative years.
