Oluremi Tinubu flood donation has delivered a powerful boost to victims of the devastating floods in Niger and Adamawa states.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, under her Renewed Hope Initiative, generously donated a total of N1.5 billion, reaffirming her commitment to humanitarian relief and community support.

In Niger State, the First Lady announced a N1 billion relief package that includes 2,000 bags of rice, clothes, and shoes to assist those affected by flooding, banditry, fire outbreaks, and boat accidents.

This compassionate gesture follows President Bola Tinubu’s earlier N2 billion contribution to the flood-stricken Mokwa Local Government Area.

During a presentation at Minna’s Government House, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that the funds should primarily support housing and essential supplies to help displaced families regain stability.

She expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and urged collective efforts to ease the suffering of affected communities.

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State thanked the First Lady for her timely support, highlighting the state’s unique geography as the only riverine state in northern Nigeria, with multiple hydro dams and waterfalls.

He confirmed the receipt of the donation into the state emergency account, along with significant material aid.

In Adamawa State, the First Lady was represented by Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, who donated N500 million to flood victims.

Additionally, a N1 billion national women empowerment grant was unveiled, targeting 500 women entrepreneurs in each Nigerian state and the Federal Capital Territory.

This grant, sourced from the Tony Elumelu Women Empowerment Foundation via the Renewed Hope Initiative, is a powerful boost to small-scale businesses across the country.

Hajia Shettima stressed that this empowerment fund is a grant—not a loan—and emphasized the transformative impact of empowering women on families and communities.

Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Faruata, lauded the First Lady’s compassionate gesture, noting that it would significantly alleviate the plight of flood victims.

Faruata also reported a rising death toll of 29 following recent flooding incidents.
