Stanley Nwabali believes the Super Eagles have the quality to beat South Africa in a vital 2026 World Cup qualifier and revive their tournament hopes

Stanley Nwabali Super Eagles optimism is high as Nigeria prepares to face South Africa in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying match in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

Despite trailing the Bafana Bafana by six points in Group C, Nwabali believes the Super Eagles have the strength to secure a vital win to boost their qualification hopes.

After seven games, Nigeria stands third with 10 points from two wins, one loss, and four draws. With three matches remaining, a victory against group leaders South Africa is essential to keep their World Cup dreams alive.

“We have a very strong squad to match any country,” Nwabali told NFF TV. “Even though it’s going to be a tough game, I feel we will come out strong.”

South Africa tops the group with 16 points, followed by Benin Republic with 11, while Nigeria remains third. Only group winners will secure automatic qualification to the 2026 World Cup hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Nwabali’s confidence comes off the back of Nigeria’s recent 1-0 win over Rwanda, which he hopes will be a catalyst for continued success.
