NTIC honours 61 long-serving staff with awards and appoints Air Commodore Darlington Abdullahi and Mary Onyali as school ambassadors

The management of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) on Thursday recognised 61 staff members with Long Service Awards for dedicating over 15 years to the institution’s development.

The ceremony, held at NTIC’s Abuja Conference Hall, also saw the appointment of Air Commodore Darlington Abdullahi (rtd) and Mrs Mary Onyali as official NTIC ambassadors.

The event drew members of the NTIC Board, parents, alumni, delegates from the Ministry of Education, and other dignitaries.

Managing Director Dr Fevzullah Bilgin described NTIC as “a well-established network of international schools committed to character education, academic excellence, and holistic student development.”

He noted that the institution operates in Lagos, Yobe, Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja, offering a robust Nigerian curriculum supported by foundational programmes that ensure strong academic grounding.

Over its 28-year history, NTIC has built a legacy of quality, discipline, and innovation, with students consistently achieving national and international recognition.

Dr Bilgin emphasised the value placed on staff well-being, noting that human capital remains central to education quality, augmented by technology and online learning platforms.

“Air Commodore Darlington Abdullahi and Mrs Mary Onyali have been chosen as NTIC Ambassadors due to their contributions to national development, serving as role models for our students,” Dr Bilgin said.

The awardees spanned academic and non-academic roles, from junior staff to senior management, and received gifts including a 13th-month salary, electronics, and home appliances in recognition of their dedication.

Several awardees reflected on their journeys at NTIC. Dr Muazu Omeji, Human Resources Manager, said he joined as a Mathematics teacher 21 years ago and has grown within the school.

Mrs Njepuome Margaret-Chris, with 22 years of service, described her experience as “eye-opening,” while Abdusalam Adeyemi Ahmed noted his progression from Biology teacher to Principal at NTIC Kaduna and Head of Academics in Abuja.

Mrs Oluwatoyin Kolawole Okotie, Secretary at NTIC Abuja Coed, highlighted the school’s family-oriented administration as a reason for long staff retention.

Both ambassadors expressed pride in representing NTIC and praised the school’s dedication to student growth and staff welfare.
