Kano Censorship Board orders closure of entertainment centres and DJ operations during Ramadan to allow peaceful observance of the holy month

The Kano State Censorship Board has directed the immediate suspension of all entertainment centres across the state, including event centres and DJ operators, until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, stated that the directive takes effect from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

“The closure will remain in force throughout the fasting period, while the date for reopening, particularly during the Eid celebrations, will be announced at the appropriate time,” Sulaiman said.

The board explained that the measure aims to provide residents the opportunity to observe Ramadan fasting and engage in religious activities in a peaceful and undisturbed atmosphere.

The Kano Censorship Board called on all stakeholders to cooperate fully and comply with the directive, in line with its mandate to regulate entertainment activities in the state.

The agency also prayed for a peaceful and healthy observance of Ramadan, hoping that everyone witnesses the holy month in mercy and prosperity.
