Inter Milan UCL exit confirmed as manager Cristian Chivu cites fatigue and defensive lapses in 2-1 loss to Bodo Glimt, ending Champions League campaign

Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu has attributed his team’s UEFA Champions League elimination to fatigue and defensive lapses during their Round of 16 clash against Bodo Glimt.

The Norwegian side secured a 2-1 victory at San Siro on Tuesday, advancing with a 5-2 aggregate score after winning the first leg 3-1. Chivu acknowledged that Inter lost energy in the second half, allowing the visitors to score two decisive goals.

“We tried to unlock Bodo Glimt in every way. Assuming we scored 1-0 first, we would’ve put them in a difficult situation. They defended with a tight block, closing the spaces well,” Chivu said.

He added, “In the second half of the match we lost energy and made the mistake that cost us the goal. Then we lost the distance and conceded the second goal. Congratulations to Bodo Glimt.”

Chivu’s comments came in the immediate aftermath of the match in Italy, highlighting the challenges Inter faced in breaking down a well-organised Bodo Glimt defence. The defeat marks the end of Inter Milan’s Champions League campaign for the season.
