Security operatives foil Kano abduction, rescuing victims while one person dies; investigation continues into fleeing suspects

Security operatives in Kano State foiled an abduction attempt in Rantan Village, Bebeji Local Government Area, on March 2, 2026, resulting in the rescue of two victims while one person was killed.

The incident occurred around 11:30 pm when about 15 armed assailants reportedly invaded the residence of Fulani Bakwai, abducting him and his neighbour, Mohammed Bello.

During the attack, 25-year-old Musa Mohammed Bello was shot in the left leg as he attempted to resist the kidnappers.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, authorities, working alongside local vigilante members, quickly mobilised and pursued the attackers. The joint team successfully rescued the abducted victims, while the assailants fled into nearby bushes.

The injured victim was taken to Tiga General Hospital for medical attention but was later pronounced dead. His remains have been released to his family for burial.

Authorities confirmed that normalcy has been restored in Rantan Village and that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects. Investigation into the attack continues.
