Onuachu rejects Saudi offer despite huge salary increase, choosing to remain at Trabzonspor after a prolific season

Nigeria international striker Paul Onuachu has rejected a lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club, opting to remain with Trabzonspor despite the promise of significantly higher wages.

The 31-year-old forward, who joined the Turkish Super Lig side from Southampton FC last summer, has been in outstanding form, scoring 23 goals in 27 appearances this season.

Reports indicate that the proposed deal would have seen his salary increase by up to four times his current earnings.

However, the striker declined the offer, choosing stability and continuity over financial gain.

The Onuachu rejects Saudi offer development comes amid growing interest in the player following his impressive performances for both club and country.

After helping Nigeria secure a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Onuachu embarked on a remarkable scoring run, netting in 10 consecutive matches before his streak ended last week.

Despite mounting transfer interest, Trabzonspor have taken a firm position on his future, indicating they are not willing to sell.

The striker remains under contract until 2028, with an option for an additional year.

Top European clubs, including Juventus FC and Stade Rennais FC, as well as Asian champions Al Ahli, are reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Analysts note that while his age may limit long-term investment prospects, his physical dominance and consistent goal-scoring ability make him a powerful short-term asset.
