Arsenal unhappy with Gyokeres claim made by Michael Owen, who says the club may target a new striker despite Viktor Gyokeres’ goal record

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has claimed that Arsenal are not fully satisfied with forward Viktor Gyökeres despite the club’s recent Premier League success.

Michael Owen claims Arsenal unhappy with Gyokeres during comments made on Premier League Productions, where he suggested the North London club could look to strengthen their attacking options if an elite striker becomes available.

Owen argued that Arsenal, managed by Mikel Arteta, would be willing to act decisively in the transfer market for a top-tier centre-forward, drawing a comparison with club legend Thierry Henry as an example of the level of quality they might pursue.

He suggested that while Gyökeres has contributed goals, the club may still be assessing their attacking structure and considering improvements in key positions ahead of the next transfer window.

Arsenal’s recent campaign has been widely regarded as successful, but Owen’s remarks add to ongoing debate over whether the squad has sufficient firepower to maintain dominance domestically and in Europe.

Gyökeres, who joined Arsenal from Portuguese side Sporting CP, has recorded 21 goals in 54 appearances, a return that has nevertheless come under scrutiny in light of expectations at the highest level.
