Makama cautioned residents against concealing symptoms or treating themselves without professional medical guidance. He advised anyone who suspects they may have the disease to contact health authorities or visit the nearest health facility for assessment.

Residents were also encouraged to contact the Kaduna State Emergency Disease Surveillance Lines on 08036045755 and 07031992126 for guidance.

The NOA urged the public to cooperate with health workers during screening, surveillance and contact-tracing activities.

“Public safety depends on accurate information and responsible action. By staying informed and cooperating with health authorities, we can protect ourselves, our families, and our communities,” Makama said.

The agency advised residents to obtain information from recognised health authorities and avoid spreading unverified reports that could interfere with disease-prevention efforts.

It also encouraged the public to observe recommended preventive measures, remain alert to possible symptoms and report suspected cases without delay.

Ebola Virus Disease is a serious illness that can be fatal. According to the report, transmission can occur through direct contact with the blood, body fluids or tissues of infected people or animals.

Infection may also occur through contact with contaminated materials and surfaces.

Possible symptoms include sudden fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pain, weakness, fatigue and sore throat.

Other symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhoea, unexplained bleeding and bruising.

However, these symptoms can occur in other illnesses and do not, on their own, confirm Ebola infection.

Anyone who develops concerning symptoms and believes they may have been exposed should contact health authorities promptly and follow their instructions.
