Adekunle Olapade criticises Big Brother Naija for lacking a real success path, saying many ex-housemates struggle financially after the show

Adekunle Olapade has voiced his frustration over what he described as a “broken success path” for former participants of the Big Brother Naija reality show.

The reality TV star expressed concern that, despite Big Brother Naija being Africa’s biggest reality show, many of its contestants end up struggling financially after their time in the spotlight.

According to Olapade, Nigeria lacks a strong “Reality TV culture” that could sustain the fame and opportunities of participants once the show ends.

“Let me double down and say that BBN is the biggest reality TV show in Africa, but somehow, Nigeria does not have a Reality TV culture – there’s almost no certain success path after the show and most of the reality stars suffer for this,” he wrote on his social media handle.

His post drew **mixed reactions** from fans. Responding to one who argued that ex-housemates should return to their previous jobs, Adekunle Olapade explained that many contestants had no steady employment before entering the show.

“A lot of the cast didn’t have 9-5s to begin with – which is why they tried to change their story by going on the show. Only a few had jobs or businesses before they went on the show. But yes, going back if things didn’t work out doesn’t sound like a bad idea,” he added.

The statement echoes concerns recently voiced by activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju, who questioned whether Big Brother Naija winners truly receive their promised rewards.

He alleged that several past winners ended up financially worse off after the show.
