Bauchi civil servants Ramadan hours cut as Governor Bala Mohammed directs shorter working hours during the 2026 holy month

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has announced a reduction in working hours for civil servants during the 30-day Ramadan fast.

The directive, disclosed in a circular signed by Ismail Ibn L Garam, Director of Establishments at the Office of the Head of Civil Service, was addressed to the Chief of Staff at the Government House. It took immediate effect as Ramadan commenced.

The governor explained the measure aims to allow Muslim civil servants to observe the tenets of the holy month and participate fully in acts of worship.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed worldwide as a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and devotion.

Fasting begins at dawn with a pre-fast meal called suhoor and ends at sunset with iftar.

During the fast, participants abstain from food and drink, including water.
