Speaking to Turkish broadcaster TRT Spor,  the former Fenerbahçe playmaker urged Osimhen to weigh the emotional and professional contentment he has clearly found in Turkey.

“Turkey is a great place to play and live football,” Okocha stated. “Sometimes, you may need to make sacrifices when making decisions in football.

Osimhen had a great season at Galatasaray. Ultimately, he is happy there. Why shouldn’t he stay with the team? I love Turkey. He loves it too.”

Osimhen recently concluded his remarkable loan stint from Napoli, capping off a sensational campaign by scoring his 37th goal of the season in Galatasaray’s 2-0 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir on Saturday.

His prolific form was instrumental in securing a league and cup double for the Turkish giants.

Galatasaray’s head coach, Okan Buruk, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Osimhen’s future but was quick to praise his significant contribution, expressing a clear desire for him to remain with the club.

Demonstrating their fervent wish to keep their star striker, Galatasaray fans have even initiated a global #staywithus campaign, which notably included a billboard message displayed in Times Square.

While Osimhen has yet to publicly comment on his next destination, reports indicate that his agent has received a new contract offer from Galatasaray.

The proposed deal, worth €15 million per year, represents a €3 million increase on his current earnings and would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

When quizzed about any inside knowledge regarding Osimhen’s future, Okocha remained diplomatic. “I don’t know,” he replied, adding, “Wherever he decides to go, I wish him the best.”

Okocha, who himself enjoyed a memorable two-year spell with Fenerbahçe between 1996 and 1998, reminisced fondly about his time in Turkey, describing it as “a wonderful two years” and recalling his appreciation for the fans and local cuisine.
