The young midfielder had expressed interest in securing a temporary move in order to gain more regular playing time.

However, according to Sky Sports News’ Danyal Khan, United have rejected the proposal and expect Mainoo to fight for his place under head coach Ruben Amorim.

The 19-year-old is considered a key part of the club’s long-term plans and is now set to compete with the likes of Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Mason Mount for a spot in the midfield.

Manchester United wrapped up their Deadline Day business with the signing of goalkeeper Senne Lammens, and are not expecting any further additions.

While reinforcing midfield was considered during the window, the club is reportedly satisfied with the current depth and balance in that area.
