Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has secured his first trophy with Qatari club Al Ahli following their dramatic victory over Al Jazira in the UAE-Qatar Super Cup Challenge Cup on Sunday, January 25.

The match, held at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, ended 4–3 in a penalty shootout after a tense draw in regulation time.

Although Troost-Ekong did not feature in the game, the win marks a significant milestone in his career following his move from Saudi Arabia’s Al Kholood to Al Ahli.

The 32-year-old defender signed a contract with Al Ahli SC running until June 2028, joining one of Qatar’s leading clubs.

Troost-Ekong brings a wealth of experience from his stints in European football, including Watford and Fenerbahçe, and is expected to bolster the Qatari side’s defensive line and leadership on the pitch.
