NDLEA drug seizures in August 2025 uncover tramadol, cocaine, and cannabis in cars, lipsticks, and parcels. Over 20 arrests made nationwide

The NDLEA drug seizures August 2025 operations recorded major successes nationwide, with narcotics intercepted in shocking forms—from car mirrors to lipstick containers.

At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, NDLEA officers uncovered 57,420 tramadol 225mg pills and 2.6kg of cocaine concealed in 71 vehicle side mirrors bound for Libreville, Gabon.

Cargo agent Ihekweme Osinachi Benedict was arrested, along with two other suspects, following operations across Lagos.

In another case, NDLEA agents nabbed businesswoman Mrs. Nwafor Roseann Nneka at Trade Fair Complex, Lagos, after cocaine and phenacetine were found inside ladies’ lipsticks en route to Equatorial Guinea.

Her husband, who allegedly prepared the shipment, remains at large.

Elsewhere, dispatch riders in Abuja Sabo Sule, Samuel Nnamdi, and Idris Jibrin were caught delivering Canadian Loud, a potent cannabis strain. In Gwagwalada, two men were arrested with 91.1kg of skunk.

Across other regions:

Joseph Michael (Lagos) was found with 3.3kg of synthetic cannabis (Colorado).
Ibrahim Sulaiman (Yaba) had 16.5 litres of skuchies.
Hussein Yusuf (Benue) carried 100,000 tramadol capsules.
William Alabi (Edo) was nabbed with 233.5kg of skunk.

At Maiduguri Airport, 160 tramadol pills were found in footwear. In Ogun, Aminat Seyi was arrested with over 7,000 opioid pills. In Oyo, Delta, and Bayelsa, large cannabis and codeine stashes were seized.

In Osun, arrests yielded methamphetamine, 90kg of skunk, and cash.

Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa praised NDLEA commands for their vigilance and urged continued commitment to the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA). Community sensitization campaigns also advanced in Sokoto, Yobe, Enugu, and Osun.
