Ibadan school gateman arrested for defiling 4-year-old pupil. Police confirm medical report, suspect confesses, and prosecution awaits

Ibadan school gateman arrested by the Oyo State Police Command has confessed to defiling a four-year-old pupil under his watch.

The command’s spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, told journalists in Ibadan that the case was reported after the child complained of pains to her eldest sister on August 29, 2025.

According to him, the victim later revealed to her mother that her school’s gateman, Josiah Ayomide, unlawfully raped her.

Police investigations confirmed the account. A medical examination at the Police Medical Clinic in Eleyele revealed that the girl’s hymen was not intact, with tenderness and bruises around her private parts.

“The suspect will be prosecuted upon completion of an investigation,” Osifeso assured, stressing the police’s resolve to ensure justice is served.

Meanwhile, the command also paraded other suspects, including two men, Azeez Kolawole and Isah Fatai, arrested for goat theft in the Soka Sanyo area using a Toyota Matrix without a number plate.

Police said both had been charged to court on multiple occasions for similar offences.

Additional arrests were made for suspected kidnapping, armed robbery, and hijacking, as the command intensified its clampdown on criminal networks across Ibadan and environs.
