The French champions sealed continental glory with a dominant 5 to 0 victory over Inter Milan, capping a season defined by attacking flair and tactical authority.

CR Flamengo booked their place in the final after an impressive run earlier in the week, claiming both the FIFA Derby of the Americas Qatar 2025 and the FIFA Challenger Cup Qatar 2025 titles.

The Brazilian side defeated Mexico’s Cruz Azul and Egypt’s Pyramids FC to emerge as the dominant force from the Americas.

Flamengo will now seek to be crowned the world’s best club, bringing the three-match Intercontinental Cup series to a close during the rest days of the ongoing FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025.

Courtois El Clásico prediction: Real Madrid’s goalkeeper insists the rivalry remains a 50-50 contest as Barcelona prepare to host Sunday’s showdown

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has insisted that Sunday’s El Clásico remains an evenly balanced contest, backing Real Madrid to challenge La Liga leaders Barcelona when the rivals meet at Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona on 25 October 2026.

The Belgian international made the assessment ahead of the first league meeting between the Spanish giants this season, despite Barcelona’s six-point advantage in the table.

Barcelona enter the eagerly anticipated fixture with 27 points from nine matches, while Real Madrid have collected 21 points from the same number of games.

The standings give Barcelona the stronger statistical position, but Courtois believes the intensity and unpredictability of the rivalry make pre-match predictions less meaningful once the teams take to the pitch.

“Barcelona the favourite in El Clásico? In the end, you never really know until you actually play the match,” Courtois said, according to comments reported by football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“I think we’re in good shape and feeling confident. It’s 50-50, always.”

The Real Madrid goalkeeper acknowledged Barcelona’s impressive league performances but maintained that his team have the quality and confidence to secure a significant away victory.

“They’ve performed very well in La Liga, but I have faith in our team. I believe we can go there and win,” he added.

Courtois also recognised the challenge of playing in Barcelona, where the home crowd and atmosphere could influence the contest.

However, he argued that neither home advantage nor a stronger run of form should automatically determine the outcome of a Clásico.

“For me, even when one side might be in better form than the other, Clásicos are always 50-50,” he said.

The fixture carries considerable importance for the early title race.

A Real Madrid victory would reduce the deficit to three points, assuming Barcelona remain on 27 points, while a home win would extend Barcelona’s lead over their rivals to nine points.

A draw would leave the six-point gap unchanged.

Real Madrid arrive at the showdown encouraged by their recent results.

The club recorded a 4-1 league victory over Sevilla on 18 October, with Kylian Mbappé scoring twice, before defeating RB Leipzig 4-1 in the Champions League on 21 October.

The results have provided a timely boost ahead of a demanding week for manager José Mourinho and his players.

Barcelona, meanwhile, will look to protect their advantage and make the most of home support.

The Catalan side have enjoyed a strong start to the league campaign, winning all nine of their opening matches according to the official standings published ahead of the fixture.

The rivalry has repeatedly demonstrated how quickly momentum can shift between the clubs.

Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-0 at Spotify Camp Nou in May 2026, a result that helped secure the Catalan club’s 29th La Liga title.

That meeting adds another layer of anticipation to Sunday’s encounter, with Real Madrid seeking to respond on the same ground.

Courtois’s assessment reflects the familiar uncertainty surrounding one of football’s most closely watched rivalries.

League position, recent results and the advantage of playing at home offer useful indicators, but the quality of individual performances, tactical decisions and decisive moments can quickly alter the balance.

For Real Madrid, the immediate objective is clear: turn confidence into a result that would tighten the title race.

Barcelona, by contrast, have an opportunity to strengthen their early advantage and reinforce their position at the summit.

With both sides pursuing domestic supremacy, Sunday’s contest promises another compelling chapter in the long-running rivalry.
