At least one person has died and another injured in Yobe State after unknown assailants attacked two herders during an alleged domestic animal theft in Damagum LGA

At least one person has been killed and another injured after an attack by unknown assailants during a suspected animal theft in Damagum Local Government Area, Yobe State.

According to security expert Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on February 8, 2026, involving Adamu Joldi Dajjo (25) and Yuse Buba (20), both from Yola Hamlet via Shanga Village.

The two had allegedly conspired to steal two rams from the bush in Abakire Village, using a Kasea motorcycle.

While passing through Gununu Village at around 3:00 p.m., the duo were ambushed by three unknown men dressed in black and armed with dane guns. During the attack:

Yuse Buba sustained gunshot injuries to his right hand.
Adamu Joldi Dajjo was shot in the back and face and later died at General Hospital Damagum.

The police recovered one live ram and one slaughtered ram, registered as exhibits, and the Kasea motorcycle was taken by the attackers.

Efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects are ongoing, and the case remains under preliminary investigation.

Joldi’s body has been released to his relatives for Islamic burial rites, while Buba was referred to Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, for further treatment.
