The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) through a statement issued by its Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations, Mr Celestine Toruka, and Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite.

Adegbite said the suspension was necessary following recent security developments in Israel, including the declaration of a state of emergency.

“The Commission’s primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and well-being of Nigerian pilgrims,” he stated, confirming that all pilgrimage operations have been put on hold until the region stabilises.

The suspension applies to both government-coordinated pilgrimages and those organised by private tour operators.

The NCPC emphasised its ongoing monitoring of the situation and appreciated the cooperation of stakeholders and media partners.

Bishop Adegbite also called on Nigerians to pray for lasting peace in Jerusalem and across the Middle East.
