Gov Umar Namadi of Jigawa stresses transparency and accountability in government programmes, ensuring support reaches the poor and vulnerable

Governor Umar Namadi has reaffirmed that transparency and accountability are core principles guiding the implementation of government initiatives in Jigawa State.

Speaking during the completion report and wrap-up ceremony of Result Area 2 (Fadama 1.0) under the NG-CARES programme at the Government House Banquet Hall in Dutse, Namadi emphasized that public resources must be properly utilized to benefit the poor and vulnerable.

“As a fellow of ICAN, I hold the principles of transparency and accountability as non-negotiable in this government,” he said, highlighting measures put in place to ensure integrity in programme execution.

To safeguard the process, a six-member standing committee was established to monitor and validate all activities. The committee, led by Dr Saifullahi Umar, ensured fairness and adherence to data-driven selection processes, verifying beneficiaries and monitoring programme implementation.

Across five phases, the initiative supported 47,800 beneficiaries in over 1,200 hard-to-reach communities, providing agricultural inputs and productive assets.

Governor Namadi noted the programme’s impact on restoring livelihoods, strengthening household resilience, and improving agricultural productivity in the state.

“Our objective is not only to provide temporary relief but to restore livelihoods and strengthen household resilience, especially through agriculture, which remains the lifeline for many families in our state,” he said, praising the committee for their dedication and meticulous oversight.

The governor’s statement underscores his administration’s commitment to good governance and efficient use of resources in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations across Jigawa.
