Vunobolki returns to PDP after quitting APC, citing lack of internal democracy and fairness in Adamawa political shift

Adamawa governorship aspirant, Chief Maurice Vunobolki, has officially confirmed his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after a brief and turbulent exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing what he described as a lack of internal democracy and fairness within the ruling party.

Chief Maurice Vunobolki, who initially joined the APC in February 2026 to pursue his governorship ambition, announced his resignation from the party just weeks later, before rejoining the PDP on Thursday in a move that has stirred fresh political reactions in Adamawa State.

Explaining his decision, Vunobolki said his exit from the APC was based on principle and personal conviction, stressing that the party’s internal processes did not reflect fairness, transparency, or equal opportunity for members.

According to him, the short-lived experience within the APC exposed structural weaknesses that made genuine competition difficult, prompting his decision to step away.

He noted that after leaving the APC, he held extensive consultations with his political supporters and allies, who, according to him, unanimously expressed concerns about what they perceived as injustice and lack of accountability within the party.

Chief Maurice Vunobolki subsequently described the PDP as a more open and inclusive platform that better supports constructive political engagement and fair participation among members.

His return comes at a politically sensitive moment for the PDP in Adamawa State, following the recent exit of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and his loyalists, a development that has already reshaped the party’s internal structure in the state.
