The result keeps the Port Harcourt-based club firmly in the NPFL title race heading into the final day of the season, adding further excitement to an already gripping campaign.

Finidi George’s side currently sits second on the league table, just one point behind leaders Rangers International, who also secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Bendel Insurance in Enugu.

The title race will now go down to the wire, with Rangers set to face Ikorodu City, while Rivers United host Katsina United in what promises to be a decisive final round of fixtures.

Speaking after the match, Finidi George praised his players for their resilience and fighting spirit under pressure.

“It was a very difficult game. Coming from behind twice and still finding a way to win shows the mentality of this team,” he said.

“The players gave everything in the final minutes to score the winning goal. Playing away in Bauchi with the home crowd behind Wikki was never going to be easy.”

Despite securing continental qualification, Finidi George stressed that the job is not yet complete as the team continues to chase the league title.

He described the achievement as significant but insisted that Rivers United must now focus on finishing the season strongly.

“Qualifying for the CAF Champions League two years in a row is a huge achievement. Many clubs fight for these positions and fail to get there, so the players deserve credit. But now we want to see if we can finish the job and win the title,” he added.
