Describing her as his “rock, backbone, and angel,” Crayon said her death marked the darkest day of his life. The singer recalled their final conversation, during which she had prayed for him as usual at the start of a new month, unaware it would be her last.

“I didn’t know that would be your last prayer. You sounded so healthy and like nothing was wrong. Only for my whole world to suddenly crumble right in front of me,” he wrote.

The Afrobeat star recounted the shattering moment he saw her lifeless on a hospital bed, calling it the scene that “broke him to pieces” and fulfilled his “greatest fear.”

In an outpouring of grief, Crayon questioned why his mother’s passing came just as the family had begun to enjoy the fruits of their struggles.

“After all the suffer wey we don suffer for decades, na now wey God don bless us, you come die leave me? Wetin come be the need?” he lamented in a mix of English and Pidgin.

The Ijo (Laba Laba) crooner praised his late mother as a “warrior” who bore the family’s burdens with courage and grace. He promised to stay strong, take care of the family, and keep pushing forward in her honour.

“I will never say goodbye because I know you are living through me and you are always with me. Thank you for everything, my beautiful mummy. Till we meet again, my angel,” Crayon concluded.
