Dangote Cement named Cement Company of the Year at Africa Housing Show 2025 for boosting housing, jobs, and innovation across Africa’s construction industry

Dangote Cement Plc, Africa’s largest cement manufacturer, has been honored as the ‘Cement Company of the Year’ at the 2025 Africa International Housing Show held in Abuja.

The award recognizes Dangote Cement’s outstanding contributions to Africa’s housing and real estate development.

The four-day event, attended by over 40,000 participants from 21 countries, culminated with the presentation of the award by Sokoto State Deputy Governor Idris Gobir, who praised the company as a “household name and the pride of Africa.”

Gobir highlighted Dangote Cement’s role in stabilizing building materials markets and driving economic growth through job creation, philanthropy, and industrial innovation.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, commended the company’s support for Nigeria’s housing industry and called for deeper public-private collaboration to tackle the country’s housing deficit, estimated at over 28 million units.

The 2025 show’s theme, “Reimagining Housing Through Innovation, Collaboration and Policy,” reflected the urgent need for partnerships and technological advancement in housing delivery.

Barr. Festus Adebayo, Coordinator of the event, emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration, noting Dangote Cement’s role as a key strategic partner.

At Dangote Cement’s Special Day during the exhibition, National Sales Director Dolapo Alli stressed a multi-stakeholder approach, advocating for Public-Private Partnerships and government incentives like tax waivers and financing credits to boost affordable housing development.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, Prof. Samson Duna, lauded Dangote Cement for its market leadership and quality standards, calling it a benchmark in the West African construction market.

In a statement, Dangote Cement’s Group Head of Corporate Communications, Anthony Chiejina, described the award as both an honor and a call to further transform Africa’s infrastructure landscape.
