PDP Wike sanction has not been carried out because no formal petition with verifiable evidence has been submitted against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

This clarification came from the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha, while addressing journalists in Abuja.

He explained that although the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had set up a disciplinary committee chaired by elder statesman Chief Tom Ikimi, with Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as secretary, no party member has been sanctioned so far.

“People often ask me specifically about the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike — why don’t we discipline him? Why don’t we take action? I tell them: It is not enough to merely say someone has committed an offence,” Osuoha said.

He stressed that due process requires a written petition, backed with evidence, and the willingness of the petitioner to testify before any disciplinary action can take place.

“When that petition is written and presented, the petitioner must also be ready to come and testify. If the person accused is invited, you must come with your evidence,” he added.

Osuoha further noted that the enforcement challenges within the PDP mirror systemic problems in Nigeria’s broader political and legal institutions.

“This is the same problem with our wider Nigerian system. It is not just about pointing out anomalies; the challenge is following them up to a conclusion,” he said.
