Kano State Government denies N6.5bn diversion claims, stressing due process, transparency, and accountability in all financial transactions

Kano State Government has firmly denied reports alleging the diversion of N6.5 billion from the state treasury, stressing its unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability.

The clarification came through a statement issued on Monday by Sanusi Darwakin-Tofa, spokesperson to Governor Abba Yusuf. He dismissed online publications linking the Director-General of the Protocol Directorate, Abdullahi Rogo, to the alleged diversion.

Darwakin-Tofa explained that the Protocol Directorate is responsible for crucial functions such as logistics, accommodation, welfare, and management of the governor’s itineraries — tasks that naturally involve large financial transactions.

He emphasized that the Kano State Government maintains zero tolerance for corruption, while affirming confidence in the integrity of its officials. According to him, the administration will not bow to political blackmail.

Reiterating its stance, the government urged credible media outlets not to provide a platform for unpatriotic individuals to mislead the public. Instead, it encouraged lawful processes, stressing that its officers can fully defend their actions under public service regulations.

Darwakin-Tofa also issued a stern warning to those behind the misleading reports, urging them to desist and collaborate with the government in building a stronger state.
