Osun Police arrest suspects attack as 18 persons are detained over assault on officers in Erin-Osun and Ilobu

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Ibrahim Gotan, on Sunday confirmed that the Osun State Police Command has arrested 18 suspects in connection with recent attacks on police officers in Erin-Osun and Ilobu communities.

The development, announced in Osogbo through a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, marks a significant breakthrough in the Osun Police arrest suspects attack investigation.

According to the command, 14 additional suspects were apprehended during intelligence-driven operations, bringing the total number of arrests to 18.

“The suspects, who went into hiding after perpetrating the criminal act, were apprehended through intelligence gathering operations,” the statement said.

Police said items recovered from the suspects include a single-barrel gun, a live cartridge and a cutlass, suggesting possible links to the violent incidents.

The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice, stating that all individuals found culpable would face prosecution in accordance with the law.

Efforts are ongoing to track down other suspects believed to have fled following the attacks, with authorities intensifying surveillance and intelligence operations across affected areas.

The police also assured the public that the rights of all suspects would be respected during the investigation, even as it emphasised its resolve to maintain law and order.

Residents were urged to remain calm and law-abiding, while cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing investigations.
